PUBLIC NOTICE - COUNCIL MEETINGS - Updated March 18-2020
Given the current situation regarding COVID-19, all in-person Council meetings have been suspended indefinitely, all future Council meetings will be held via teleconference.  If members of the general public are interested in participating, please call the office at 587-873-5765 so we can work on alternate arrangements.

Re: Public Health and Novel Coronavirus Awareness

As many of you are aware, addressing the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) remains a focus for global, federal, provincial and local authorities. Earlier this week, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic, and as the impact has spread to Canada our federal and provincial governments are providing regular guidance to the public on the matter.

As a reminder, to help protect you and your family against all respiratory illnesses, including flu and COVID-19, you should:

-Wash your hands often and well
-Avoid touching your face, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
-Avoid close contact with people who are sick
-Clean and disinfect surfaces that are frequently touched
-Stay at home and away from others if you are feeling ill
-Contact your primary health provider or Health Link 811 if you have questions or concerns about your health
-When sick, cover your cough and sneezes and then wash your hand.

Effective March 17, 2020, the Summer Village Main Office located in Onoway will be closed to the general public until further notice.

2020 TAXATION - Updated April 15-2020
In recognition of the extreme circumstances resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and potential resulting hardships faced by property owners,

Council approved the 2020 Operating and Capital Budget with a 0% increase in municipal tax dollars collected from the previous tax year and

the minimum municipal tax payable will remain at $1,025.00 per property.


The Summer Village Council also approved a new penalty structure for the 2020 Tax Year and deferred the collection for the payment of the

non-residential school tax in line with Provincial requirements.


2020 Approved Tax and Penalty Information

Municipal Tax Dollars Collected - 0% Increase from previous year

Minimum Municipal Tax Payable - $1,025 per property (no change from last year)

Non-Residential Municipal Tax, Residential Municipal Tax and Residential School Tax - Due June 30th (no change from last year)

​Penalties on Unpaid Non-Residential Municipal Taxes, Residential Municipal Tax and Residential School Tax: 

2% July 1st (previously was 18%)

4% August 1st (new this year)

6% September 1st (new this year)

6% October 1st (new this year)


Non-Residential School Tax - Due September 30th (previously due June 30th)

Penalty on Unpaid Non-Residential School Tax:

18% October 1st (new this year)


A reminder that the Summer Village has a monthly tax payment plan available to all residents.

IS CURRENTLY IN EFFECT

​A PARTIAL FIRE BAN means all fires must be confined within a non-combustible structure, container or barrel with openings covered with a heavy gauge metal screen having a mesh size not larger than twelve (12) millimeters and which is used for the purpose of cooking or burning refuse. ​​
